I was with friends for the day on Sunday. Was showing someone how to edit photographs. Her husband cooked lunch for us:-

    Big, juicy, sausages
    Yorkshire puds,
    Cabbage
    Cauliflower
    Broccoli
    Carrots
    Boiled potatoes
    Gravy

    It was delicious!!

I think this thread could be a “no foreign muck” food thread!

The potatoes are foreign - unheard of in Europe until the sixteenth century!

Ah, lefties using the same excuse that they use for immigration:

"Well your ancestors thousands of years ago were foreign" blah blah blah.

With that as with this I am talking about in recent times. These meals are British by recent standards.

And another point - why can't lefties just say "Yes, British food is great, though I like foreign food just as much"? Or similar.
Why does it always come down to trying to pull about and denigrate British culture and traditions?

Lefties seem to hate Britain and all things British. I wonder why?

No, YOU are changing the goalposts. You said "no foreign muck", and we're pointing out that most of the food on our plates is foreign.

Because you rightards hate immigrants, and think they contribute nothing.

And yet you eat plenty of food that was once considered "immigrant" food, and go on about how wonderfully British it is. Fish and chips, for example, was a creation of immigrant Jews in London, and was considered a filthy foreign dish when it first appeared on menus.

British food is wonderful, because most people outside BC are actually open-minded enough to try different things, embrace them, and incorporate them into our own culture. That's why British food is great. It's why we think fish and chips is British, and why we have "Indian" meals that nobody in India would even have heard of (unless they'd come to Britain on holiday).
