The law to prevent no deal has received royal assent. This has allayed the fears of many that Johnson would "advise" the Queen to withhold assent. No monarch has withheld assent from an Act passed by Parliament since 1707. If the Queen had withheld consent then the constitutional shit really would have hit the fan.
The law requires Johnson to obtain a deal by 19th October or ask for an extension until 31st January. Johnson says he will obey the law but has also said that he will never ask for an extension. Both of these positions cannot be true. So we will see what Johnson's next move will be in his anti-constitutional power grab. This isn't over till the fat lady sings.
