When I worked on gardens I always tried to reuse felled trees for benches and raised beds for instance as the wood rots slowly and is good for soil and wildlife,burn what can't be used and the ash improves the soil.

When we had the strong winds in UK some years back that felled a lot of trees they realised ht was a good thing as it took out many of the weak ones.
