The Fork Me 7" vinyl collection thread Anthrax - Anti-Social (Single, Island, 1989, IS-409) A Anti-Social B Parasite Another good old fashioned thrash track. Anthrax should have been a lot bigger then they were IMO.
The Fork Me 7" vinyl collection thread Anthrax - Only (Single, Elektra, 1993, EKR 166) A Radio Edit B LP Version Joey Belladonna was sacked in 1992 and replaced with John Bush. The band's sound changed and they got good critical reviews and one very successful album (which this is from) with him. After that it all started to go downhill... Thankfully, Belladonna is now back in his rightful spot! I don't dislike this track, it just doesn't sound like Anthrax to me.
The Fork Me 7" vinyl collection thread Anthrax / Disneyland After Dark - Kerrang! Flexible Fiend (Single sided flexidisc, Kerrang!, 1989, FIEND 1) A Anthrax - Now It's Dark B Disneyland After Dark - Jihad (Live) Kerrang! Magazine did a series of these, I have 3 of them. Surprisingly, it still plays. This one was given free on the cover of Kerrang! issue 256. Disneyland After Dark had to change their name because Disney threatened to sue them, they changed it to D.A.D. A few years later, they changed it again to D : A : D, they are now called D-A-D. I don't know much about them, except that they have a very stable line-up, they sacked their girl singer after their first ever gig in 1982 (in a youth club - she's now a top lawyer working for the Danish government) and got in a replacement and the line-up hasn't changed since. This is the only picture I've seen of the band with Lene:
The Fork Me 7" vinyl collection thread Apache Indian And Tim Dog - Make Way For The Indian (EP, Island, 1995, IS 586) A1 Make Way For The Indian A2 Make Way For The Indian (Sewer Mix) B1 Right Time B2 I Pray Apache Indian was Steven Kapur, he is Asian Indian and his musical style fused Asian sounds with those of the Carribean and the fledgling UK rap scene. This is all I have by him.
The Fork Me 7" vinyl collection thread Army Of Lovers - Ride The Bullet (Single, China, 1990, WOK 2018) A Ride The Bullet B Love Like A Loaded Gun AofL are a Swedish dance band, they were big in mainland Europe (havinf three number one's in the Eurochart, including this) but failed to repeat that success in the UK or US. I don;t really have that much to say about them. They reformed last year to try and win Sweden's Song For Europe but didn't even get to the final. There were a few versions of this, but most of them have La Camilla on female vocals, this version has Michaela de la Cour.
The Fork Me 7" vinyl collection thread Arnee And The Terminators - I'll Be Back (Single, Epic, 1991, 657417 7) A I'll Be Back (The Dancefloor Devastation Kick Up) B Environment News There is a story behind this. This was actually done by Steve Wright and the Posse who did the afternoon drive time show on Radio 1. Richard Easter was number 2 on the show. The following info come from the Radio 1 site: "I'll Be Back" was written in two hours, start to finish, lyrics , music and all over an evening in 1991 when Richard Easter had nothing to do on the Roadshow that year. They said "do Arnee" and he said "but Arnee's whole raison'd'etre is blowing people away. Now, fun as that may be, I don't think they'll allow carnage of that scale on the Roadshow". So he was told to "write a song, then", which he did. It was never intended to be released, but then CBS rang up, offered a shedload of cash and that was it.
The Fork Me 7" vinyl collection thread Ash - Goldfinger (Single, Infectious, 1996, Infect29s, Clear vinyl with gold glitter, individually numbered) A Glodfinger B1 I Need Somebody B2 Sneaker Ash are from Northern Ireland, they're a punky indie band formed in 1992. their first release was the mini album "Trailer" in 1994 while they were still at school, so called because the band considered a taster of what was to come on their first full album. That balbum was to take two more years to be released. The album was called "1977" and the band gave three different reasons for this, all considered by the band to be world changing events that influenced them. 1) Two band members were born that year. 2) Punk in the UK was born that year. 3) Star Wars was released that year! This was their 4th single from 1977, and was released just before the album itself. The previous three had all been successful so the band were well known by now. Two of theiir songs were used in the 1995 Jackie Chan film "Rumble In The Bronx" giving them access to the American market as well. Ash were huge fir a while and they are still going. This single is pressed on clear vinyl with gold glitter inside it. IT's quite striking: Goldfinger was their first single to go top 10 in the UK, vocalist Tim Wheeler says it is, in his opinion, the best song the band have ever written. Certainly it was big when I was DJing alternative clubs, it was one of the guarranteed dancefloor fillers.
