It's quiet in here - no blog posts by anyone since early April?
In the Bowland Blogosphere, nobody can hear you scream!
Well, I thought I'd break the ice by having a general ramble about what I'm doing at the moment. It will probably bore the t'ts off everyone, but then nobody reads these blogs anyway. So what the heck?
What I'm doing is taking a course in advanced Maths, as part of an OU degree.
I find numbers fascinating from a philosophical POV. It might be possible to envisage a universe in which the laws of physics were different from our own. But surely, there could never be a universe in which the laws of maths are different, in which, for instance 1 +1 = 3, or the circumference of a circle could be defined by anything other than the irrational constant 'pi' (I don't know how to get Greek characters here).
Maths, far from the dry and boring subject that it is often portrayed as, is in fact a fascinating area of study, and has its fair share of controversy. From time to time I hope to bore everyone to death share my fascination with everyone in some of those topics.
If that doesn't appeal, well, hey, there are always the Arcades!
