Just worked out that if I pay £4000 to buy the years I'm missing from NI contributions (because I retired early) and lived for another 15 years, over that time, discounting inflation etc, it'd be worth about £20k extra. Should I take the bet?

Since I moved house into a non-Virgin Media cabled area, I lost my 250mbps broadband and had to be content with what Openreach could provide (via Sky) which was 50mbps (Fibre to the Cabinet, or FTTC).

However, to my surprise and delight, Virgin Media started work in my street in January, using a new rule that allows them access to Openreach's telegraph poles to provide "Fibre to the Property" (FTTP) which gives you 1gbps (1024mbps)

I'm pleased to say they put this system live on May 1st. By May 3rd I'd had them install it.

My advice to tourist is. don’t turn up in a car….our corrupt elected mayor hates them, and will personally tell you to f*ck off.
