I feel I should use Peter O'Toole's line and ask "My God! Are you all still alive?"

Seriously, it is lovely to come back and see so many familiar names still posting, and after so many years as well.

I do hope the last ?12? years or so have been kind to you all and that you are all managing to deal with the latest madness and mayhem in the world.

Best wishes as ever

TC

I never watched "Friends". I mean I must have caught the odd snippet because I vaguely know who the characters are but I'm sure I never watched a full episode.

Just noticed it on Netflix today and thought OK I'll give it a go. I'm already hooked.

I've sometimes wondered what it would be like if you could erase old films and tv shows from your memory and watch them again.

I suppose it would be just like this. Everyone else has seen it but I get to enjoy it for the first time.
Envy me.

The FBI have arrested Epstein's alleged Madame, she has been charged by federal prosecutors, details yet to filter through. She's going to court in a matter of days. Will she survive that long?

Squeaky bum time for Prince Andrew.

I was discussing a small domestic maintenance problem with a couple of friends and one said "If at first you don't succeed try, try again". The other immediately countered with "Why flog a dead horse?"

Pseudointellectualism takes many forms, and I've come to realise that there exists a type of bullshit that fits the description but which I had previously failed to recognize as pseudism. You know, all those trite little clichιs disguised as profundity which all have their exactly contradictory yet equally supposedly wise counterparts. He who hesitates is lost vs Look before you leap, for another example. They're all like that.

I've come to the conclusion that proverbs are invented primarily to serve the purpose of justifying or condemning anything to the weak-minded.
