Medieval manuscripts are pretty bizarre. Rabbits beheading humans, dogs playing the lute, or, in this case, naked duck-powered sailing.

Israeli intelligence had a 40 page document they named Jericho Wall one year before October 7 2023.
They did nothing to prevent it happening and it took the IDF hours to spring into action on the day.
Hamas pulled off Jericho Wall to the letter of the document.

At Cop28, meat has been declared a “planet warming food” and we are all going to have to stop eating it and eat insects instead.
Not them, obviously. Just us.

"get together" for the "new" constituency. I'm bored to fuck and don't wish to engage with any of the people here. I'm doing a favour for Mrs Perrin who's socialising away, but I can't be arsed. So I'm writing to you as displacement behaviour. When the raffle and speeches start it should be alright because at that point we're going to piss off.

Watched a most interesting broadcast about immigration last night, that summed things up pretty well.
There are basically four groups of people coming to the UK:
1. People on work visas, primarily to work in the NHS.
2. People on study visas, to study at UK universities.
3. People from Ukraine and Hong Kong escaping the war or the repressive Chinese regime.
4. Illegal immigrants coming over in small boats.
The first three groups are legal, and massively restricting them would cause all sorts of problems. Waiting lists are completely out of control in the NHS, and it needs more doctors and nurses. We don't have enough home grown ones, so we're encouraging skilled healthcare workers to come to the UK. Slashing the numbers of doctors and nurses in the NHS in an election year would not be a recipe for success, so we can't do anything about 1. People on study visas are only allowed to stay 1 or 2 years and go home again, and spend a fortune while they're here. Without them, universities would go bust, and the UK economy would be hit. Again, not a good look.
We could send the people from Ukraine and Hong Kong back, but that would look pretty callous, and only electorally popular among hard-core gammons.
So that basically leaves group 4 as the only scapegoats for high immigration numbers, which is why Scrot foams at the mouth about them as his masters at GBNews have told him to.
Which is all well and good, but apparently they make up 1% of the immigration numbers, so even when the Tories can boast that the number of people in small boats is coming down, it barely makes a dent in the figures.
And of course the real irony is that the reason we're having to import lots of immigrants, primarily from India and Nigeria, to work in the NHS is that large numbers of healthcare workers from EU countries left after Brexit. Indeed, the Leave campaign even put out leaflets in Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu telling British Asians that if they voted Leave, that would leave far more room for their extended families to move to the UK (see quote from the Financial Times back in 2016, below).
And of course, that's exactly what happened. Strangely enough, the rightard media didn't complain about Danish, Polish, and Irish doctors and nurses back in the day. It only seems to be skilled healthcare workers who are black or brown that get their gander up!

Vote Leave is hoping to secure the backing of British Asians by telling them that if Britain quits the EU, it will mean more immigration from elsewhere in the world.
The official Out campaign is drawing up leaflets aimed at Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu speakers arguing that a British exit from the EU would help to stem the flow of Eastern Europeans into the UK — allowing more incomers from Commonwealth countries to take their place.
Saqib Bhatti, a board member for Vote Leave, said English-language leaflets had been sent out to Muslim voters, while others in different languages were set to follow.
The pamphlets argue that people with EU passports can just “walk in” to Britain.
“South Asian immigrants have ancestors who fought in the world wars, they sacrificed a lot, they speak the language, they have the skills, they are well educated,” said Mr Bhatti. “But they find it hard to come in compared to other individuals from Europe who may not speak the language, understand the culture or have the skills.”
