    At last!

Mum got her hospital appointment at last. The biopsy, they said, was not lost. But it had crumbled and could not be properly tested. So, yesterday, she went in for a spinal bone marrow sample to be taken.

The Doctor apologised for everything taking so long and for all the previous hiccups and said that she would now need to go for further tests and scans on her vital organs, including her brain, to see if it had spread.

As far as I can tell, its some form of Lymphoma ...

    Back from holiday

We have just come back from Lanzarote. On the first Monday we were there, my mother was due to go to the Hospital to get the results of her biopsy and hear from the specialist how they planned to treat the growth.

I was not looking forward to hearing the news but neither could I put off ringing on Monday evening to find out what the news was. But I steeled myself and made the call. Only to be told that when she got there, the Specialist, the one who once considered it was so urgent ...

    The First Test Results

My mother went to see the specialist on Monday to get the results of the biopsy. They told her the growth was on her rib but that they needed to do further tests to see exactly what type it was in order to ascertain the best treatment.

She is still putting in a brave face and says she is happy with the news because it says, to her, that they are on the case and at least now, they will be looking for ways to treat it. She has also taken some comfort in the news that it is not on ...

    The second installment.

I just called my mother thinking today was the day for her biopsy but it's not until Thursday. She still sounds pretty much together but I just feel its so unfair to have to face something like this at her time of life. Theresa's parents both died in their late 70s and they both died suddenly without warning or worry - for them anyway.

Although its good to get this stuff "off my chest", I feel I would be doing the blog world a disservice to indulge myself too much; there ...
