Default My brother is adopting a rescue cat

Very laudable, except he already has a cat.

In my experience, cats do not like other cats.

    You have a brother?

    You have a brother?

Yes, last time I checked. Some people do.

    That is the owners fault.

    Cats mirror owners.

I don't bring family up a lot. It rarely ends well.

My sister in laws cats are unnaturally nervous.

But she doesn't socialise them. It took me years for the female cat Ding Ding to be comfortable with me and when I stayed with my brother for 6 weeks plus she eventually wanted to sleep on my bed and spent the night lying on my legs purring.

If cat's grow up together, they're okay. But if you introduce a new unrelated cat, they tend to be hostile.

I currently have 4 cats, all descended from the same cat. I used to have more - long story.

I don't tend to talk about my cats here, due to some rather unpleasant comments that have been about cats by certain posters.

They do, we have lots of cats, we have cats come to the house all the time, you get the odd one that’s a right arsehole but otherwise they get one fine, they play together, they eat together, they are happy to share space. It’ll be fine and good on your brother for adopting and not buying a kitten.

Photo is of one litter we have in at the moment, Mama cat was sent to us with her four babies.

We also have these little dudes, someone burned them and put them in a bin, now they’re with us until they’re old enough to be neutered. They’re still terrified.
