Very laudable, except he already has a cat.

In my experience, cats do not like other cats.
A lot depends on how they are introduced and the age difference. Older cats quite often accept a slightly younger cat. I have always kept new cats apart from the existing ones for a couple of days. They knew they were there but didn't feel threatened - so were more accepting when they came face to face. No doubt the rescue centre will offer good advice.

    Well done your brother!

We also have these little dudes, someone burned them and put them in a bin, now they’re with us until they’re old enough to be neutered. They’re still terrified.
Poor kitties - I know which bits of those cruel swine I would like to burn!

    You have a brother?

Same reaction here. I thought he was an only child, he certainly acts like one.
Amusing smilies aside, you ought to realise that beneath what may sometimes appear to be banter, I do in fact despise you. Don't be flattered, my contempt is free to all lefties who support the indoctrination of children. ~ Memnoch, Dec 2014.

My sister in laws cats are unnaturally nervous.

But she doesn't socialise them. It took me years for the female cat Ding Ding to be comfortable with me and when I stayed with my brother for 6 weeks plus she eventually wanted to sleep on my bed and spent the night lying on my legs purring.
They called her Ding Ding, she was bound to have issues.

Lol It is actual a Chinese tradition. Her cats are called Ding and Dong but they double the name for some reason and they also do it with children.

Dong Dong the male cat tolerates me but never got affectionate like Ding Ding.

Chinese languages have mainly one syllable words.

Ding dong actual means something like electric power in Cantonese. And lunyi ding dong is electric wheel chair.
Do not let the oppressed retreat in disgrace; may the poor and needy praise your name..

I know of a Chinese child called Ting Tong, I wonder if he's any relation.

Sadly I don’t think my brother’s new cat is long term prospect, he has kidney problems, (the cat, not my brother), only 40% functional.

Not “the end” but I would imagine a couple of years at best.
