    you may find it difficult to find a jeweller prepared to melt them down without proof of ownership.
    Oh, I missed that bit. Melting them down wasn't my plan. When I said about making them into jewellery I meant mounting them intact in rings or pendants. Not my thing personally but my sisters' kids do like bling.

    I think to be on the safe side I'll write to the coroner's office to see whether they're included in the definition.
    That's what I'd do. You could find yourself in trouble if you try to get them melted down and the jeweller reports you.

    In that case discard the last post (which I made before seeing this!). Even getting a jeweller to mount them could run into the same issue.
