That's right, and frankly it is frightening. Dominic Raab, one of the contenders for the Tory leadership and therefore PM, said that he wants to "prorogue" Parliament in order to force through a "no-deal" Brexit.

Let's strip away the fancy language here, and look at what's really being proposed. Raab wants to shut down Parliament, which represents the people, and govern as a dictator.

This isn't the first time this kind of thing has been done around the world, but not in this country. This isn't a banana republic, it's the UK. Raab is not some crank on a soapbox at Speaker's Corner, but a member of our governing party, and potentially our next PM.

But, just hang on a minute ... didn't the Leave campaign say they wanted to "restore the sovereignty of Parliament". What Raab wants is the opposite. How have we got to this pass?

    We live in interesting times.

Probably heard it, just can't say it, not until his carers put his teeth in at least.
Amusing smilies aside, you ought to realise that beneath what may sometimes appear to be banter, I do in fact despise you. Don't be flattered, my contempt is free to all lefties who support the indoctrination of children. ~ Memnoch, Dec 2014.
