    Default Five fingers?

Unless you're a boxer or a musician, you really only need three.

I have 8 fingers and two thumbs.

I find them all really useful.

Possibly, but three aren't as good for spreading the weight of a heavy load, which is what our very distant ancestors had five for.

Interestingly, even though some modern animals have evolved other ways of distributing that weight (the large flat feet of elephants, for example) most of them still show the remains of 5 fingers in their bones, and they do still have a support role inder the thick skin.

You get a better grip when masturbating, and you can use your little finger as a microwave.

The other five are handy when you change at 99

What a strange thought to start the day. Now you have mentioned it I will be conscious of them all day!

I am sure I need and use all of mine, Memnoch, for typing and for card making.

Yes, and whales still have rudimentary fingers and toes and so on.
Some dinosaurs were a lot bigger than elephants but they only had four toes, and only three of those were for walking. There's a thought... if humans were dinosaurs rather than mammals, would a violin have three strings?
    YOU LOST. AGAIN.
