Here's one that was done many times in my primary school.
So I thought I'd put a video of some other primary school singing it.

Lyrics are a bit 'post-apocalyptic' to be honest.

    "Said Judas To Mary".

I can't find any really good versions of this, this one is about the best I can find and seems to render the tune pretty much as I remember it, without playing silly buggers with the notes:

I recall finding this very sad as an 8 year old and I still do really.

Most of the hyms sung at my school were out of this book.

Copies varied from really old looking (it didn't wear well and the plastic coating on the cover would gradually peel off) to brand new (absolutely identical just brand new copies).

I think it was published in about 1975 or something but was seemingly available for many years as my primary school were still getting new copies in when I left in the late eighties.

How to make hymns a bit less boring.

Get James Brown to sing them.

That's also the hymn book we used at Primary school, and I would never again have thought of it. Wasn't there a version with an orange cover also?

It now occurs to me that I left there 37 years ago! I have a birthday coming up and you posting that made me ponder, and remember how long ago it was.

    You reminded me!
