Devon and Cornwall police have announced a major clampdown on speeding offences in their two counties:

All well and good. Excess speed causes many accidents, and needs to be sorted out.

However, I must have missed the announcement of a similar clampdown on burglars, muggers and rapists. Parts of Devon and Cornwall, notably the larger towns, have some of the worst crime rates in England outside London. So I can't imagine the local police having a clampdown on minor motoring offences, while ignoring more serious crimes. Can anyone find the announcement I've missed?
