    Default Glasgow

    I've really enjoyed the games.

One very interesting thing is what it's done for the city of Glasgow.

I've never been there, but like many people I always thought of it as a ghastly dump.

The games have shown that actually, it's not.

When the games were in Manchester in 2002 (I attended!) it had a similar effect (although I personally still consider Manchester to be a dump).

I thought it was a dump when I went many years ago.

I've never been across the border. The furthest north I've been is York. I did do go to Liverpool once, but fortunately we only went to catch the ferry to the Isle of Man.

I caused chaos there some time back. I had driven an ERF artic with a sky high load of oranges I had hauled up from Southampton. I was held up by a queue of folk boarding a tram, when I attempted to proceed a half shaft broke, I was stuck there for over an hour before the heavy wrecker came to tow me in, meanwhile the tram service in Glasgow was fucked, I was slap bang on the lines. I loved every moment as I hated the trams anyway. As my driving hours were up I asked where the digs were, left the wagon, cleaned up at the digs, a few beers, the pubs shut at 9 pm, went back and got my head down for the night, next morning the jock shunter had tipped the oranges and loaded the wagon for a return trip, I picked up the delivery notes and shot off heading south.
