    Default Sutton Bank.

With my 4 wheeled BRS Vulcan i was heading from the east towards Thirsk. I was in my twenties then. I had a need to call my home depot, I was informed this was my last trip with this vehicle, I was to get a heavier one on my return.
By this time I was only half loaded and heading for a drop in Thirsk, BRS were strictly forbidden to negotiate Sutton bank. I wanted to know why whilst I still had the 4 wheeler. I would negotiate it on a descent, I decided to have a crack at it.
    25% drop....1in4
I shoved her in crawler and went down at snails pace. It frightened me, my biggest worry was that I might slide down, didn't fancy a repeat.

I once tried Sutton Bank with a Sherpa Van with 10 kids and a trailer full of tents. We didn't even get to the start of the very steep climb, there's a long run of an incline before that. Had to unhitch the trailer and turn around.

Figures, it's a wicked climb, One I would baulk at. I know for a fact, it would literally stall most laden goods vehicles. I stalled only once with a TK Bedford in a place other than Sutton Bank. The experience goes like this.....you go down the gears until you reach bottom, then it ask for another gear which you don't have, then stops. You are fucked.

With 8/9 tons on a TK Bedford, if you rode the clutch you would go back down in a hurry.
