Default The EVIL that lurks within local councils

If you want a prime exampleof the nasty, evil culture that festers within ALL local councils, have a read of this:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-41851771

It's a long read, but this lady was manager of a care home and used to put music nights on for the residents, which they loved. She used to sing herself at these. One night she shared a video of some the singing that had gone on on a particular night. She was sacked immediately by the council.

Her story is awful, and it shows exactly why councils are not fit for purpose.

She's just won an employment tribunal case for unfair dismissal, but her life is now in ruins.

What exactly did she do wrong? She went above and beyond to help the residents of her care home enjoy a decent quality of life, but the council's petty rule book says you can't do that, so out she went. The council have since added insult to injury by closing the care home and forcing all the residents to move elsewhere, after some of them showed support for their former manager.

That'll teach you lot, not doing what the council tell you!

Scum of the Earth, councils. The council leader wants locking up for misconduct in public office, for presiding over this shocking behaviour.

.......and besides that it's perfectly clear what she's done, breached the confidentiality of a vulnerable client. I won't bother explaining that to you, as this is clearly trolling.

...who's family made it clear they, and the person involved, supported her and had no problem with it.

But no. People aren't doing what the council tell them. Lives must be destroyed, to teach people a lesson they won't forget.

    Evil.

They may well have, after the event. But despite that she's guilty of gross professional misconduct. This isn't rocket science, it's not vindictive and it's right and proper. You're an arsehole Rightard, as usual barking up the wrong tree to slag off the wrong people. You dick.

And yet, an experienced and professional Employment Tribunal has just told the council they acted WRONGLY.

It's not "what she was guilty of", it's "what the council did about it". They weren't interested in facts or mitigation. Someone hadn't done what the council told them, so they set out to destroy her and punish the people in her care for supporting her.

Nasty. Vindictive. Evil. Someone should be up before The Beak for this. Putting a few arrogant council leaders behind bars might focus the minds of the rest on the fact that they supposed to providing public services.

They gave her 48 hours to accept a compromise offer of demotion, or be dismissed. Her doctor told them she was medically unfit to make that decision, but the council ignored that and sacked her when she didn't respond in the allotted time.

Judge says the council is wrong? They carry on anyway.
Doctors say the council is wrong? They carry on anyway.

Councils think they are a law unto themselves, and as I said above, it's clear that the only thing that will put a stop to this is putting a few council leaders in prison for misconduct in public office. Then they might start acting reasonably and within the law.

it's hardly a sackable offence. Employers should know that facebook is like a red rag to a bull - people can't hepl themselves and this seems perfectly innocent to me. Surely a warning would have sufficed? But I expect in councils as in any large company there are personal emnities and scores to be settled. Silly, sacked over Facebook? They should all reflect a bit and move on, there really isn't anything to see here.
