He was, I thought, quite dreary in Torchwood: Children Of Earth, but then I remembered he played Caecilius in DW: The Fires Of Pompeii and was actually quite fun. He might be OK.

I think they had to get away from casting relative unknowns because the character is getting very deep and needs a player with a bit of gravitas. The only other actor who has come to the role already very well known was Peter Davison and although he wasn't my fave, he was certainly a lot better than a few I could mention.

Still, the main thing is, Matt Smith is GONE and that can only be a good thing.

BTW, in the picture above, he has the same facial hair arrangement as yours truly. If only I'd known...

Matt Smith was very good, it's just a shame about some of the scripts, and the direction.

Oh dear, we have something in common.
He does have Dark foreboding air I doubt we will see him being so clownishly jumping about as the previous two. It will be nice to see some more dignity in the role.

He would have been better cast as The White Queen. The very late Arthur Askey would be a great choice for this comic book character.

no..........it just looks scruffy, long and unkempt........not trimmed. I wouldn't want to be sitting opposite him after he's eaten.....................or in the throes of a particularly
    nasty cold.
