One is possibly my favourite Mettalica track. Nuff said. Nuff said... Nuff said? Nuff said this is one of her favourite all time tracks by any band - ever! AND... I have this too. I didn't realise it was rare, but I'll never part with it. Hell, I even bought the dvd of Johnny Got His Gun after years of watching the vid (one of one - if you don't have it you should ) and being intrigued... As soon as the family wake up, I'm gonna watch this - loud!
The Fork Me 10" vinyl collection thread Good idea! Then you can watch today's afterwards! Metallica - Until It Sleeps (10" EP, Vertigo, 1996, METAL 12, Ltd ed red vinyl) A Until It Sleeps B1 2 x 4 (Live) B2 Until It Sleeps (Herman Melville Mix) This was Metallica's first single for nearly three years when it came out, and it was their biggest hit of 1996. I still prefer their earlier stuff!
The Fork Me 10" vinyl collection thread Motörhead / Girlschool - St Valentine's Day Massacre (10" EP, Bronze, 1981, BROX 118) A Please Don't Touch B1 Emergency B2 Bomber The real St Valetine's Day Massacre was a gangland execution in Chicago in 1929. Members of Al Capone's gang shot dead 7 members and associates of Bugs Moran's North Side Irish gang. This record, however, iks a collaboration between these two Bronze Records labelamates that got to number 5 in the UK charts. The A side is a collaboration, on the B side, each band covers one of each others top tracks. Motorhead's drummer Phil "thy Animal" Taylor was unavailable due to a freak accident (apparently he got a neck injury in an drunken "who can lift the other person the highest" competition with a very large Irishman), so Girlschool's drummer played on all three tracks. Please Don't Touch was originally recorded by Johnny Kidd & the Pirates. This is sometimes credited to "Headgirl" but they only used that name for the TOTP performance supporting this.
The Fork Me 10" vinyl collection thread Ned's Atomic Dustbin - Not Sleeping Around (10" EP, Sony Soho Square, 1992, 658386 0) A1 Not Sleeping Around A2 Cut Up (The Tartan Shoulders Mix) A3 Scrawl B NSA (NAD v NDX) I think I went on about how much I liked the Neds in the other thread. Awesome band. Happy indie.
The Fork Me 10" vinyl collection thread Primitives - Crash (10" single, RCA, 1988, PB 41761 X, Ltd Ed, Autographed) A Crash B1 I'll Stick With You B2 Crash (Live In Studio) Live in studio? What does that mean? It means it's one take, done with no later mixing or production, it's how it sounded in the studio when it was played. It's a good version as well. Anyway, I spoke about the Primitives in the other thread, I was a huge fan of them at the time and I still like their stuff. Crash was their first release after their label, Lazy Records scored a distribution and promotion deal with major label, RCA. This meant this single was pushed much more than their previous ones. It was good timing in a way, because Crash is THE perfect pop song and Tracy was THE perfect frontwoman, in both voice and image. The problem was that it was SO perfect they couldn't live up to it, and while they had other hits after it, with damn fine songs, none of them were quite as good as Crash. Seems the lyrics were quite prophetic... Here you go, way too fast, If you don't slow down, you're gonna crash...
The Fork Me 10" vinyl collection thread Thank heaven for auto-restore content! I typed in that Primitives one two days ago, must have not hit submit or something! Anyway, back on Track:
The Fork Me 10" vinyl collection thread Renegade Soundwave - Renegade Soundwave (10" EP, Mute, 1994, 10MUTE146) A1 7" Mix A2 Whistling Guitar Mix B1 7" Instrumental B2 Basstube Shakin' 4 mixes of the same track, the awesome Renegade Soundwave by Renegade Soundwave. I have just one album and this 10" by them, I'm not sure why I don't have more, they're a great band.
The Fork Me 10" vinyl collection thread Sepultura - Slave New World (10" single, Roadrunner, 1994, RR 2374-8, Orange vinyl, single sided, etched) 1 Slave New World 2 Crucificados Pelo Sistema 3 Drug Me 4 Orgasmatron (Live) The B side of this contains no music, but is nicely etched like this: Sepultura: Pure no nonsense thrash metal. Nothing more to say - bang that head!
The Fork Me 10" vinyl collection thread Sheep On Drugs - Let The Good Times Roll... (10" single, Island, 1994, 10 IS 576, single sided, etched) 1 Album Version 2 12" Version Two etched discs in a row, what a coincidence. I don't have a picture of the etching on this one though. I saw Sheep On Drugs once, supporting the slightly mental Daisy Chainsaw, they weren't all that to be honest, but that was in their very early days, they got better!
