The Apostles were a left wing anarchist punk band with an openly gay singer, which in the early to mid 80s, when they were at their best known was a very unusual combination. Their songs are all overtly politcal, but very different to other anarchist bands. They actually thought for themselves and rejected the "doctrine" message as they saw it from other bands and organisations (Hello, Black Flag! is actually an anti-Black Flag song).
The artwork on the sleeve and inserts of this release is amazing, it's one of the reasons why I collect records rather than download tracks, the whole package is worth owning (even if, like me, you disagree with much of their politics). Like a lot of independent releases, the artwork is black and white and hand drawn )black ink by the looks of it), all of the text is neatly hand written and there's a lot of it. From full lyrics to all of the songs, explanations of all of the songs, through various political and other ramblings from the band. It includes an "expose" of their old distrubutor Jungle Records and why they don't use them anymore, two methods to "fix" your electricity meter so that you can defraud the electricity board (like any good anarchist - looking at the instructions it would work on old meters, but not on new ones - one of the methods stops it, the other makes it run backwards!) and a list of codes used by the police on their radios.
