Five years ago, we brought home an acorn from Grasmere, and planted it, not really expecting much but we were hoping for a tree of remembrance. For four years it sat in the corner, quietly doing its thing, until this year, when it has decided it's actually going to become a tree! We are hoping to move in the quite near future, and our tree will finally get its 'forever home'. I'm very proud of the little fella, so thought I'd share. 17th June 2024 13:07 by Scrotnig

Are they actually nuts? Every political party is allowed a 5 minute broadcast, so I thought I'd watch Reform UK's to see what their policies are. This was the opening image - fair enough. But after a minute, I thought it would move on to having someone explaining their policies, but no - just this still image, no sound, for 5 minutes. 16th June 2024 17:00 by Scrotnig

If you like to see gay sex you might like this programme. It's about 2 gay blokes wanting to adopt. Little'un insisted I watch it because she felt it was a good representation of social workers and the child protection processes and adoption in general. Well, I've been out of it for over 5 years now so things might have changed a bit. In general although I've only seen 1 episode, I'll give it the thumbs up. I do have a couple of quibbles though. I've seen this done before on Coronation Street I think. I think the writers do it because it's such a dramatic device, however, for anyone that's interested, there is absolutely no way on earth prospective adopters would be left alone to do a tick box exercise to exclude or include children from their match. The list itself is a prompt for the social worker to explore the adopters attitudes and values to the most important element of the whole fuckin process. It's not a shopping list. I hate that mistake they make. As fuckin if !. Otherwise, so far it's fairly accurate. I told little'un that as a worker I would never have outsourced my recommendation to my manager or the panel (as this worker has the habit of doing). I'd own it and take full responsibility for it. For what it's worth I would have knocked these two back almost immediately. I recommend watching it (not Scrot though). |
