View Full Version : The 70's

I had a big row with one of my brothers a few weeks back, he's appointed himself guardian of all family photo's. I'd "borrowed" an album full of polaroids with the intention of scanning them. At the time I had neither a scanner or a computer fast enough to run Nero at an acceptable speed. I was in the loft today and I found the album. The cheeky twat, All the photo's belong to me and my closest brother. For the sake of peace and in order to lower Grand Mrs Perrins blood pressure I've swallowed that point for now and apologised ( ).
However, armed with a scanner I did the business with them today. Have you actually seen how good Paint Shop Pro is at enhancing the most dilapidated and damaged photograph? It's truly amazing. They were better than the originals!! Anyway I spent this evening making a slideshow of these 70's photo's. We were such urchins. I think I'll post a photo, hang on.

Anyway that's me and "our Ants" in 1975. I made a slideshow of all the photo's. Here's the music. Rod Stewart Maggie May (With that instrumental bit before) Judy Teen (Cockney Rebel) Changes (Bowie) , everyone will love it. Fuck him, the cheeky twat.

You are lucky to still have the photos Reg, I seem to have lost all mine over the years, just memories now.

LOL, I won't reply with what i was thinking, I'll be nice tonight :yup2:......but anyhow, I enhanced some old photos of my gran and grandad in PSP a few weeks back and they came out better than the originals too. They were old black and white ones that showed them both in their teens.

Not sure what version of PSP you are using, but at the mo I'm using PSP8 and I quite like the Old Newspaper effect, which can transform a relatively new photo, into an old one. However the hairstyles and clothes worn are a dead giveaway that the photo isn't an old one :e8

Look at the state of this. We did pose for this. In fact I remember collecting Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillars, attaching them to my Parka and walking up Cassy high street. Do you know what an Elephant Hawk moth Caterpillar looks like?

As you can see, hairstyles give away the 70's!!!

Indeed, I can see that these photos belong to the 70's. But let's say that you had used Old Newspaper to enhance them to make these photos look older than they were.....well the seventies hairstyles would be a dead giveaway, that the pics were not as old as you were trying to present them as being.

Actually, I've found that the biggest leap forward is putting a soundtrack to photos like these. fix them, enhance them and then add music...unbeatable.

Perhaps, "Hole in the Ground", by Bernard Cribbens for that one.

For some reason it made me think of "Laughing Gnome" :crosseye:

Reg Perrin

Too specific, if you throw up a song that hits a nerve, it's appropriate for all the photo's. It's a bit like being a dj, you judge the atmosphere.

11th March 2006, 23:42
perhaps "I'm too sexy for this hole"

Katitude
11th March 2006, 23:44
Maybe something by Bowie......after all, the Bowie albums are featured in the pics.

Hang on to Yourself (from Ziggy Stardust)

Reg Perrin

Personally I think "Quicksand" from Hunky Dory hits so many notes, however, over the years I've come to believe that Bowie, like Paul McCartney and Christopher Lee, flatter to deceive. Nowadays I just think, is it ok? if it is, it is.

A real trip down memory lane (at least as far a Bowie Music is concerned). :D :specool: Thanks Reg.
