Two old duffers (Mrs is very Buckett) and a very unremarkable house and their son trying to keep it going!

I didn't see the programme myself, but I have seen examples of this before. People that have an estate that has been in the family for centuries, but - to put it bluntly - don't have a pot to piss in, and have to turn to National Trust for help, even if it is just for a handful of tourists to walk around their home.

You do wonder what Mr and Mrs. "Fortherington-Farquar-Smythe" can possibly need a 20-bedroom Country house for, but of course, I suppose many of us in the same situation would be just as determined to not let it slip into the hands of someone else, with so much family history.

I just wonder why more people don't turn it around by converting it into a hotel. I wonder how much of it is down to pride, or more than likely, again the likes of the National Trust cannot allow it !
hmmmmmmm something

This particular family bought the place in about 1960 and from my impression don't seem to be particularly landed or at all historically connected with the place!

One a place becomes an hotel I suppose it ceases to be a home!

I had to turn the thing off in the end. Bewildered wanna be posh people frighten me!

A lot of these people are selling their gardens for building plots then sell up and bugger off before the building commences.

Rumour has it that Lady Cressida is actually called sharon and lives in a high rise with three kids all by different fathers! I don't believe it myself!

I ask merely for information.
Posts claimed as fact using my Scrotnig sockpuppet are things that arise in my head spontaneously when my medication goes haywire, and probably bear no relation to reality.
