Has anyone any ideas on how to settle your pets down when the Fireworks are sending them mad.
My two dogs are so upset on bonfire night, they run about the house barking and shivering with fright.I've tried just about everything so I would be glad of any advice. All the adds on tv about thinking of pets when letting off fireworks, just don't work. :tirade:

No idea at all.
Mrs Murk's dog runs around like a demented ... dog. There's nothing we can do to calm her down, so we just leave her to it.

I think I would try and put some form of ear muffs on them so that the noise does not distract them.

Have a word with your Vet... there is medication that can be given.
Just a thought... you could play a tape with similar noise... and try to accustom the dog to hearing it.

I know, but I think that's a bit drastic, even for Jed and Murk.

Nah, you'd like me gone because you hate having your butt kicked so publicly.
Time for a Dordie flounce?
Or do we just watch you trash every thread that I post in, just for a change?

You could ask someone who lives out of the way to babysit them, or distract them with treats. xxx

Funny you should say that, I did try it,they went mad trying to get them off so they could bark at the fireworks again.
Thanks anyhow. :yup:

Good luck with the dog, may it find some peace. Give it a pat for me.

The Vets prefer not to give dogs medication for this, they say it may damage the dogs kidneys.
I do like the idea of the tape though,it sounds a great idea I think I will give that one a go.Thanks for that. :chuffed:

One of my cats actually likes to sit on the window sill and watch them, the other one likes me to be on the sofa so that she can hide behind me! Although we can make plans for pet care on the actual day there are a number of thoughtless cretins in this area already flinging bangers and rockets about !

Konnichi Wa to All:
Whenever I have had Fireworks on Halloween Night, I always make sure that my Familiar TwoWhiteSocks is locked up in a Secure Room so that she can not run off and get into Trouble.
That is all I can Recommend.

PS: Since this thread involves something to do with Halloween Fireworks, I have made a Copy of it to Run in the Halloween Forum as well as this one.
