View Full Version : Saving a birdie.

Lastnight my kitten Lufer brought in something from the garden and was playing in the hallway with it.
My boyfriend and I were just nodding off when Lufer kept scuffling, so we got a torch and shone it on him and we first thought he was playing with a mouse.
Anyway, we both got up, Dunc grabbed Lufer and when he did he had a look of distaste on his face and said " I think that's a bird"
So I got some tissue and picked the bird up. I think it was a sparrow. It wasn't moving and just flopped about when i opened my hand. I checked to see if he was bleeding or wounded in anyway. He appeared ok, so I just stroked his head and back and watched him open and close his eyes.
Then I teased his leg and it started to move and then he gripped the tissue but he still wouldn't stand up. So I sat on my sofa and coaxed him into using it, then I held out my hands and he flew from me straight at Dunc who jumped a little :rofl3: then sat next to him. So I picked him back up and let him fly off out the window, closing it a little behind me so Lufer couldn't go and get him again.

I felt good about saving his life. :)

I have done this many times with my cats CK, but most of the time they do not survive.

It's nice when you can save a bird's life.

Sadly, our cats didn't often leave their victims in a saveable state.

I did once rescue a mole though.

I won't ask how that would be appropriate.
I would much rather believe you wouldn't take the next step and stoop as low as slagging off A) my much loved other half and B) someone who isn't here to defend himself.

Oh, he'll stoop that low. Never fear, PeeWee's near.

That is a sweet and heart warming story. It has put me in a nice mood, thanks for sharing.

This is the sort of thread that would be better suited for my Pets and Wildlife forum.

I move that this thread be moved.

I feel the same sort of way whenever I manage to rescue a nice Cute Bird from my TwoWhiteSocks.
